Football: Man Utd agree record shirt deal with Adidas

English Premier League giants Manchester United on Monday announced a ten-year kit deal with German sportswear group Adidas worth £750 million.

LONDON: English Premier League giants Manchester United on Monday announced a ten-year kit deal with German sportswear group Adidas worth £750 million, replacing Nike as sponsor.

United had previously enjoyed a long-running supply deal with Nike, the world's largest sportswear group. Adidas will take over the contract from the 2015/16 season.

The deal is a record for the Manchester club and will result in United receiving double the average sums paid to European rivals.

The northwestern England powerhouse is currently rebuilding following a dismal seventh place finish last season that saw manager David Moyes lose his job.

Netherlands World Cup manager Louis van Gaal has been given responsibility of restoring United to the top level of European football.
