Golf: Park Inbee wary of Serapong Course ahead of HSBC Women's Champions

Mastering the Serapong Course at the Sentosa Golf Club will be key to winning this week's LPGA HSBC Women's Champions, said women's world number one golfer Park Inbee.

SINGAPORE: Mastering the Serapong Course at the Sentosa Golf Club will be key to winning this week's LPGA HSBC Women's Champions, said women's world number one golfer Park Inbee.

Park was speaking at a media conference on Tuesday, which also saw the tournament's top golfers wow crowds with a local martial arts routine.

The world's top female golfers will tee-off on Thursday at the par-72 Serapong Course - which is recognised as one of Asia's top championship courses.

It is also where the Barclays Singapore Open will be played.

Park, who won three majors last season, clearly goes into the competition as one of the favourites.

She finished second at the Honda LPGA Thailand last weekend.

She has led the women's golf rankings for 45 straight weeks.

But the South Korean has never enjoyed a good result in Singapore and she puts that down to the difficulty of the course.

She said: "You've got to be really straight off the tees and you have to hit good iron shots. I feel like I hit the ball quite good last week, so I'm just trying to get the confidence going for this week.

"I'll be working a lot on my tee shots because there are a few holes where you have to not hit dry runs, and think your way around. And obviously you have to score good on the par fives."
