SINGAPORE: Singapore's Loh Jia Yi, 16, and Jonathan Yeo, 18, have been crowned the 420 Boys' World Champions at the 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship on Saturday (July 19).

Thirty-two teams competed in the week-long competition in Tavira, Portugal. Several nations took turns to top the leader board throughout the week.

The Singapore pair never led the series, but a brilliant final race gave them the title. Malaysia won silver and Japan took the bronze.

Singapore last won a gold medal in the 420 event at the 2005 ISAF Youth Worlds in Busan, Korea.

Kimberly Lim and Savannah Siew finished fourth in the 420 Girls competition. A second medal for the Republic came from Ryan Loh, who clinched bronze in the Single-Handed Laser Radial Boys event.
