SINGAPORE: A three-man team from Singapore came in third in an international gaming competition for the FIFA football game.
The trio - Chiang Wen Jun (also known as hibidi), Fernando Amraan (also known as Amraan), and Joseph Yeo (also known as Zarate) - lost to Korea in the semi-finals of the EA Champions Cup held in Thailand from Dec 17 to 18, according to a press release by Team Flash on Tuesday (Dec 20).
With their third-placed finish, the trio earned US$60,000 in prize money while the eventual winners Korea claimed the US$250,000 prize purse. “We didn’t come to take part, we came to take over. We placed third this time round, but we’re always targeting gold. The best is yet to be,” said Chiang.
Countries that participated in the competition included Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Europe. Vietnam, China and Korea.
