Police on Wednesday embarked on a manhunt after three officers were killed and at least two others injured in New Brunswick, Canada.

TORONTO: Police on Wednesday embarked on a manhunt after three officers were killed and at least two others injured in New Brunswick, Canada.

The New Brunswick division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police tweeted: “Three officers mortally wounded by shooter. Two officers sustained non-life threatening injuries. Shooter still actively sought.”

The police also said on Twitter that they were looking for 24-year-old Justin Bourque, who was described as “armed and dangerous”.

Local media published a photograph of a man, believed to be the shooter, wearing camouflage clothing and carrying a rifle.

Residents in Moncton city were told to remain in their homes and lock their doors.

Traffic on some streets were also reportedly blocked.
