Update On Incident Along Nicoll Highway

Our initial assessment showed that the soil subsidence that affected Nicoll Highway was caused by the collapse of the temporary wall supporting the excavation site for the tunnels leading towards the Nicoll Highway MRT Station along Circle Line Stage 1. No motorists were travelling along Nicoll Highway when the incident occurred.

The surrounding buildings and structures have been assessed to be safe for use by the BCA. LTA is monitoring ground movements in the area regularly. Works on the other Circle Line work sites are not affected.

LTA is also keeping in close contact with the relatives of our staff and our contractor's staff involved in the incident. We are rendering them all the necessary assistance that they require.

LTA will hold a press briefing tomorrow to update the media on details of the incident as well as repair works to be carried out.
