Demise of Mr John Tan Lock
Yong
The management and staff of LTA are greatly saddened
by the untimely demise of Mr John Tan Lock Yong. Our heartfelt condolences
go to Mrs Tan and her family for their loss.
As an Inspector of Works, Mr Tan supervised the construction
activities at the Nicoll Highway MRT Station work site. He was a
responsible worker who was committed to his duties. With his work
dedication and jovial personality, he had excellent working relationships
with his supervisors and colleagues.
Mr Tan joined the LTA in November 1999 as an Inspector
of Works. He was assigned to work on the construction of Hougang
and Kovan MRT stations along the North East Line. With the completion
of the project, he was posted to the Nicoll Highway MRT Station
of Circle Line Stage 1 in February 2002.
"I am very sad and sorry to learn of John's death.
We have been keeping vigil and working closely with the rescue team
in the hope of rescuing John and the others," said Mr Ho Meng
Kit, Chief Executive of Land Transport Authority.
"Since the incident, we have been maintaining
close contact with John's family. We will continue to provide all
support to his family members in this time of need."
