Update On Repair Works At Nicoll Highway

Repair Works In Progress

The first stage of repair works is ongoing. LTA and its contractor have been working round the clock to stabilise the ground around the incident. This remains our top priority.

The cutting of the Merdeka Bridge is in progress and we expect this to be completed in the next two days.

LTA continues to pump foam concrete into the ground around the incident site at Nicoll Highway. This will stabilise the ground and prevent water seepage from the surrounding area.

Works on drainage improvements were completed yesterday (24 April) and have been in use since then. The installation of a new drain ensures that water from the Kallang River does not enter the work site and hamper recovery works.

We would like to assure the public that we are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the surrounding area. We would also like to urge the public not to go to the work site for their own safety as there are many heavy machinery there doing recovery works.

Traffic Situation Remains Smooth

LTA continues to monitor the traffic conditions in the area around Nicoll Highway and the alternative routes, such as Kallang Road and the East Coast Parkway. Traffic conditions there remain normal.

Since 2pm today, the section of Nicoll Highway between Mountbatten Road and Stadium Road has opened to traffic. This provides another vehicular access into the National Stadium area, including the Singapore Indoor Stadium and the Kallang Theatre.

The section of Nicoll Highway, between Middle Road and Stadium Road, remains closed to traffic. Directional signs are in place to inform motorists of the diversions and closures.
