SINGAPORE: Popular host-actress Kym Ng is officially off the market!
In an interview with Xin.sg on Thursday, Ng revealed that she and her husband, known only as Mr Yang, have tied the knot in October.
“From now on, I am known as Kym Yang,” she quipped.
Unlike her fellow MediaCorp stars who opt for high profile weddings, the petite host has always preferred to keep her personal life private. Her colleagues don’t even know her hubby’s name!
The couple who have been together for 15 years, registered their marriage overseas earlier this month and recently completed the traditional Chinese customs.
She declined to elaborate on her wedding, just saying that it was a simple ceremony.
“It was a simple yet heartwarming wedding ceremony. Just the two families having dinner together.”
Ng was spotted wearing her wedding band on Thursday during the wardrobe fitting session for upcoming variety programme “New City Beat”, which Ng co-hosts with Bryan Wong, Gurmit Singh and Adrian Pang.
Like her wedding, the wedding ring is simple - a plain gold band, no bling, no frills. Those of you who are curious to check out her ring can catch a glimpse of it when the programme debuts on Channel 8 in December.
“I will keep the ring on when I am hosting variety shows but I will remove it when I am filming,” she said.
So, what went through her mind when she first slipped on the wedding ring?
“I have been with him for so many years. Putting it on is a responsibility,” said the newly-wed.
The couple had initially planned to tie the knot in December but decided to bring it forward after Ng’s leave was approved and successfully finding their ideal home. And more importantly, her husband did not want not to drag it any longer.
After some discussions, they decided to say their 'I dos' overseas, away from the media spotlight.
Not only were the media oblivious, even Ng’s close friends, fellow host Bryan Wong and celebrity hairstylist David Gan, were kept in the dark.
Wong said he only learned about it from the media while Gan, who is currently in Beijing, told Xin.sg in a phone interview that he has yet to give Ng a wedding gift. Some of the items he has in mind are a Hermes Birkin bag or a diamond bracelet.
