SINGAPORE: A recent survey commissioned by the Tsao Foundation has revealed that two-thirds of young adult Singaporeans surveyed have considered retiring overseas.
The online survey had 300 Singaporean respondents. The reasons for migrating include a slower pace of life and lower cost of living.
80 per cent of respondents have begun saving for their golden years. And while 72 per cent want to retire with their spouses, only eight per cent expect to live with their children.
Dr Mary Ann Tsao, president, Tsao Foundation, said: "From a community perspective, we need to have many more community services available, and make it affordable.
"Many of these services are still paid out of pocket. We would like to hope that the policy-makers can look at a more cohesive way to develop a scheme to help people pay." - CNA/vm
