Joanne Leow presents news programmes on Channel NewsAsia, including World Today and Asia Today. She also occasionally co-anchors for Channel NewsAsia's flagship morning show, Primetime Morning, for which she produces interviews and presents segments on arts, culture and lifestyle.
Joanne joined Channel NewsAsia in 2003 as a reporter and has covered major events such as the Nicoll Highway collapse, the death of Pope John Paul II and Singapore's general elections. She has also reported on the Singapore education scene and its arts and culture sector. As a producer and journalist, she particularly enjoys having one on one time with interviewees like Sophia Loren, Neil Gaiman, Renee Fleming, Thomas Keller and Fernando Botero. She has also moderated ministerial forums, including a dialogue on Means Testing with Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan.
As a MediaCorp scholar, Joanne graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a double degree in International Relations and Comparative Literature. She has also taken courses in theatre and film in Columbia University and Chinese language in Fudan University. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Literary Arts from the National University of Singapore with a research focus on diaspora literature. She is fluent in French, and has a grasp of everyday Italian and Chinese.
Married with two young sons, Joanne enjoys reading, jazz, cooking, swimming and spending time with her family. |
