Papaya Smoothie
Serves 1

Ingredients:

   
     

1/2 small papaya (about 190g), skinned & roughly chopped
1 cup hi-low milk
4 tbsp oat bran
1 tbsp sugar (optional)

 

     

Method:

Place all the ingredients in a blender.

Blend mixture until smooth.

Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.

Papaya is very high in vitamin C and folate which a lot of women need. It also has beta-carotene which is an anti-oxidant that prevents ageing and also helps to cut down the risk of certain types of cancer.

Use low-fat milk so that you get the calcium and protein but not the fat and cholesterol.

Oat bran has a lot of fibre, especially soluble fibre. This helps you improve blood cholesterol so it's good if you have high cholesterol. Oat bran is also good for diabetics because it also helps to reduce your blood sugar.

Add sugar only if the papaya used is not very sweet.

Blend for about 30 seconds.
