 35-year-old French national Christophe Megel is the executive chef at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore.
He oversees the hotel's three restaurants, catering and room service operations since May 1999.
His job has also taken him around the world, including stints at the original Le Cirque in New York, The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka and Hotel Shilla in Seoul.
He has won many international accolades in his over 20 years of culinary experience. He was named Executive Chef of the Year at the World Gourmet Summit in 2002. In 1996, he was a finalist in the Great Chefs of Asia, a Grand Prix winner at the 1995 International Culinary Competition and he represented Le Cirque in the Expo Gourmand in 1994 in Chile.
He places great importance on healthy eating and ensures vegetarian options on all his menus.
Chef Megel is one of the authors of the hotel's first cookbook called Asian Tapas which was published in 2004. He takes part in mountain bike races, as a hobby. |
