 He is 33 years old this year. He’s been cooking professionally for about 5 years but started cooking as young as 6 years helping his mum in the kitchen.
He has a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Texas in Austin, and worked as a I.T. Consultant for 4.5 years after he graduated, dealing with network security and smart cards. After 4.5 years in the I.T. world, he went into Le Corden Bleu Culinary Academy and graduated with a B.A. in Culinary Arts.
After that, he worked in an Italian restaurant, a Cantonese restaurant, and also a Japanese restaurant, and then to Hong Kong for 9 months before coming back to Singapore to set up Xi Yan.
He has now setting up a new restaurant. He also volunteers with Sarah Senior Activity Centre, cooking lunches for some of the retired folks there who do not have the means to cook lunch themselves. |
