ROVING DV 2008: WHY YOU SHOULD NOT ADD GRAPHICS TO YOUR CLIP

Picture 1 shows how Channel NewsAsia looks on air.

Note the blue-gray bar (called the “ticker”) at the bottom of the screen which scrolls the latest news headlines or stock market information.

The ticker appears throughout all CNA programmes.

Picture 2 shows the caption (see “GAGGED   RUSSIAN BABIES”) when this story is read.

CNA will script the caption for your school’s clip.

If you should add your own word graphics on your school’s video clip, these will be covered by the CNA ticker.

And if your graphics are bigger than our CNA ticker,

part of your graphics will appear, leaving a cluttered on-air look.

Picture 3 shows the CNA house style for name or word graphics.

It also shows where the word or name graphics are to be positioned, such that they will not be covered by the ticker below – nor will there be a gap between name graphics and ticker.

Picture 4 shows how we want your video clip -
clean WITHOUT any word graphics throughout video.

We will add the names of student reporters or interviewees when the news clip goes on air, using our CNA house style.

So please submit a clean video clip WITHOUT any word graphics.

Clips that come with word graphics added,  CANNOT be broadcast.
