Guidelines for Roving DV Contest 2008

1. ELIGIBILITY:

1.1     All clips must be produced by students although guidance from teachers is permitted.
1.2     All clips must be on activities involving the school or its students.
1.3     Roving DV 2008 is open to all primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and ITEs.

2. RULES:

2.1.    Entries must be in English
2.2     Video duration: 1 min 20 sec  (maximum)
2.3     Clips with the following added will NOT be shown on air:

• Music soundtrack  (as MediaCorp does not own the copyrights)
• Word graphics      (see Annex B)
• Special effects

2.5     Format: mini DVC tape (in SP mode). For each entry, please send the following: 

• Clip #A - with the narration mixed with pictures
• Clip #B - with ONLY the natural sound and interview sound-bites
• Clip #C - narration only

2.6     Each school can submit up to 3 entries.
2.7     Every entry must be accompanied by a soft copy of the script, and completed entry form.

3. TELECAST DETAILS:

• Roving DV clips could be shown from August 2008 onwards.
• The closing date is 30 September 2008. Schools are advised to send their clips early. 
• MediaCorp reserves the right not to show all clips. 
• MediaCorp reserves the rights for all usage of the clip on its television channels.

4. JUDGING CRITERIA:

4.1     News value             15%
4.2     Scripting                  25%
4.3     Camera skills           25%
4.4     Editing                     25%
4.5     Voicing                    10% 
4.6     The Best Piece-to-Camera by a Student Reporter gets a special award.

5. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES:
 
These can be dropped off at MediaCorp’s Reception at Caldecott Broadcast Centre, or they can be sent by registered mail to:
