A 'miracle' tree shed rainwater at Empress Place on Sunday, September 3, capturing the attention of both tourists and passers-by.
This was actually an art performance put up as part of the Singapore Biennale.
While some among the crowd looked like they were singing in the rain, sceptics were busy nosing around for clues.
But whatever the trick, this art installation by Dutch artist, IEPE, enthralled many in the crowd.
"I thought it was great. It was unexpected... something different and actually quite refreshing as well," said a passer-by.
"It's very wonderful. First time I come across a miracle tree," said another.
Some were game enough to bring back vials of the 'miracle' water for good luck.
IEPE does not want to reveal the secret behind the rain making.
Instead, he says the question that should be asked is: what's the meaning of it all?
"What's the meaning of a miracle? What does a miracle teach us? Is there more beyond rationalism or is it that we have to believe in fantasy? I think it gives people a good feeling and gives them a chance to not to think but to experience," said the artist.
If you are keen to experience the miracle shower, neither the weatherman nor the organisers will reveal the next scheduled shower.
So the next time you're walking under the tree, don't forget your shower cap.
