The Unmistakable Signs of Labour & Debunking Myths About Delivery
The word "labour" in childbirth evokes gripping fear of pain and suffering of the highest order for any pregnant woman. But, in modern day childbirth, labour can be safely transformed into a labour of love, joy and fulfillment. Dr Lee will start his session on the signs of labour, followed by your journey to the labour room, right till you get to the postnatal ward and discharge from the hospital with your bundle of joy. He will also touch on the required packing list for your maternity hospital, normal and assisted vaginal delivery and caesarean section as well as common requests for pain relief. In addition, Dr Lee will briefly touch on the myths and misconceptions during labour and the postnatal period.

Dr Anthony Siow
Obstetrician & Gynaecologist,

Dr Anthony Siow has practiced for 15 years and today runs his own practice in Gleneagles Hospital. He graduated with a degree in Medicine and Surgery from National University of Singapore, obtained his Masters in 2000 and became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the UK as well as the Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Dr Siow was awarded the Ministry of Health Scholarship for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and spent a year in Sydney Australia mastering the art of Laparoscopic Pelvic Floor Reconstruction and Severe Endometriosis Surgery. On returning, he became the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre, KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital. His passion for teaching earned him the KK Hospital Outstanding Clinical Teacher Award in 2007. His reputation as a dedicated laparoscopic trainer has attracted specialists from all over Asia, and in 2009 he was appointed Visiting Professor for Laparoscopy to the University of Philippines, Philippines General Hospital.
Dr Siow is the first gynaecologist in Singapore to perform Single Incision Laparoscopy for Hysterectomy and Myomectomy. He is among the few in the region to have done more than 100 such cases and is frequently invited to teach and demonstrate this new technique of laparoscopic surgery.
Apart from laparoscopy, Anthony constantly stays abreast of the best evidence-based management for General OBGYN conditions. He still enjoys guiding his patients through their pregnancy and finds the birth of their newborn, the ultimate joy one can experience with the parents.

Dr Lee Keen Whye

Dr Lee is an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the Gleneagles Medical Centre with special interest in hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Dr Lee has done many international lectures and preceptored many endoscopic workshops in Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, India and Myanmar.
He is a founder member of the Asia-Pacific Association of Gynaecological Endoscopists (APAGE). In 2003, Dr Lee was awarded the prestigious Benjamin Henry Sheares Gold Medal by the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore.

Dr Teo Cheng Peng

Dr Teo Cheng Peng was awarded the Public Service Commission Scholarship by the Singapore Government to study Medicine at the National University Hospital. He graduated in 1984 and completed the post-graduate examination in 1987. Under another scholarship, he received further specialised training in stem cell transplantation at the Royal Marsden Hospital, one of the leading cancer centres in the United Kingdom.
Upon returning, he started the Bone Marrow and Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplant programme at the National University Hospital. In 1995, he was then recruited to develop the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant program for solid tumours in the Department of Medical Oncology, Singapore General Hospital. After successfully implementating the clinical programme, he continued his career and work with stem cells in the fields of haematology and medical oncology in Gleneagles Hospital.
Dr Teo continues to develop his interest in the field of stem cells and is one of the pioneers in starting an autologous stem cell bank in Singapore.

Dr Nancy Tan
Paediatrician,
Gleneagles Hospital
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1994. Her post-graduate qualifications include a Master of Medicine (Paediatrics), Singapore, a Membership of Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Edinburgh, and a Diploma in Dermatology (Family Practice) from the National University of Singapore.
Dr Tan is involved in numerous studies conducted locally as well as speaking at international conferences. She is also involved in various committee works such as the Children’s Hospital Emergency Transport Service Team.
Dr Tan is trained in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. She received her sub-specialty training at King’s College Hospital, London. She is currently in private practice at Gleneagles Hospital.
