With the stresses of modern life, along with changes such as childbirth and ageing, close to half of all women today face the inconvenient affliction of urinary leakage and /or urinary tract infections. Urinary incontinence is not only a medical issue but also a social problem. Recurrent urinary tract infections can have long-term consequences on the bladder and the kidney. Dr Siow will explain the causes and treatment of these common conditions and share tips that will empower you take charge of your urinary health.

Dr Siow Woei Yun
Specialist in Urology & Consultant
Raffles Urorenal Centre

Dr Siow’s clinical interests are in urinary tract and pelvic floor disorders in females, and continence surgery in men and women.  She also manages urine flow problems, urine leakage/incontinence, blood in urine/haematuria, urine tract infections and stone disease. Her surgical interests include "scar-less" transvaginal surgery for urine leakage and vaginal prolapse in women, Botox treatment for sensitive/overactive bladders, and slings and artificial urinary sphincters for urine leakage in men.  Dr Siow is also interested in minimally invasive treatments for prostate conditions and performs brachytherapy for prostate cancer.

Dr Siow graduated top of her class in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and was awarded the Singapore Medical Association medal. Upon completion of her specialty training in urology, she underwent fellowship training in Berlin, Germany. Dr Siow is currently the President of the Asian Society of Female Urology, Secretary for the Society for Continence (Singapore), Medical Advisor to the Handicaps Welfare Association and a Member of the Singapore Urology Association and International Urogynaecology Association.

 
 
 
Dr Shamini Nair
Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology & Consultant
Raffles Women’s Centre

Dr Shamini Nair has a special interest in pre-invasive diseases of the cervix, vulva and vagina, antenatal care, gynaecological and minimally invasive surgery, family planning and contraception, infertility and the treatment of menopausal problems. A strong believer in the importance of public education she contribute articles in medical journals and has presented papers in both local and overseas conferences.

Dr Shamini is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Duke-NUS School of Medicine and Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. She is also an examiner for both the medical schools. Dr Shamini is a Member of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore (OGSS) where she served as Executive Council Member from 2004 to 2008.  She is also a member of the Society of Colposcopy & Cervical Pathology of Singapore and the Singapore Medical Association.

 
 
 
Dr Felicia Tan
Specialist in General Surgery & Consultant
Raffles Surgery Centre

Dr Felicia Tan’s clinical interests are in breast oncology and the use of surgical techniques to achieve the best oncologic and cosmetic outcomes for her patients. This includes breast conservation surgery for cancers as well as nipple- and skin-sparing mastectomies with immediate breast reconstruction. She is also adept at the whole range of breast surgical procedures including vacuum assisted biopsies for breast lesions and the radioisotope occult lesion localization (ROLL) procedure. She continues to perform the full range of general surgical operations.

Dr Tan received postgraduate training in general surgery with a sub-specialty in breast surgery. She is actively involved in promoting breast cancer awareness both locally and internationally. She is a Committee Member on breast cancer support groups, and is the Scientific Medical Advisory for the World Conference on Breast Cancer Foundation (WCBCF). Dr Tan is also a Member of Bali’s International Women’s Association. She received the Singapore Millennium Foundation Scholarship in 2007 to pursue her research interest in breast oncology, especially in the understanding of breast cancer in young women.

 
 
 
Dr Wong Soon Tee
Specialist in Dermatology & Consultant

Dr Wong Soon Tee’s areas of specialty are in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation treatments of photoaged and facial pigmentation; skin cancer surgery and minor aesthetic skin surgery. He performs facial aesthetic treatments with Botox and fillers injection, Botox injection treatment for body odour and excessive sweating, laser and light-based treatment for facial pigmentation, facial and leg veins removal, hair removal, facial skin firming and tightening and photo-rejuvenation. Dr Wong also manages general dermatological conditions such as psoriasis, acne, eczema, urticaria, keloid, viral warts, hair and nail disorders and drug allergies.

Dr Wong is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.  He spent 20 months in 1998 in the United Kingdom on cancer research, skin laser and skin surgery training under a Commonwealth Fellowship by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (United Kingdom). He undertook molecular genetic research on skin cancers in the Skin Tumor Laboratory of Imperial Cancer Research Fund and trained at the Bedford NHS Laser Treatment Center on all aspects of skin laser surgery including vascular, pigmentation / tattoo, hair removal and aesthetic laser surgery for facial wrinkles and acne scarring.
