Masagos Zulkifli has been with Singapore Telecoms ever since he graduated from Nanyang Technological University in 1988 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Electrical Engineering.
He has been posted in seven different functions within the SingTel group of companies, and most recently heads the Satellite Group as its Vice President.
After finishing post-graduate business studies on a scholarship in the US from SingTel, he spent three years in East Indonesia and after a short spell in Singapore, a further two years in Australia serving in SingTel’s subsidiary companies there.
Outside work, Masagos spends his time attending to organization activities in PERDAUS, a Malay Muslim grassroot organization that provides educational services to the Muslim community including part time religious classes.
When thrust into the leadership position in 1999, Masagos redefined PERDAUS’ value system to embrace all and to engage the community beyond the Malays, the Muslims and Singapore.
With respect to providing care beyond the shores of Singapore, he led PERDAUS to found Mercy Relief which today is one of the organizations at the forefront of relief work during disasters in the region.
He has also served in various boards including the Islamic Religious Council, Cisco and Temasek Polytechnic.
In addition to PERDAUS, He is currently serving as a member of CCIS, the Centre for Contemporary Islamic Studies.
He has four children and considers his family as the most important people in his life. Even during his overseas posting, he had always had his family with him.
He believes that all communities must live harmoniously with each other, and Singapore must continue to be the example the world can learn from.
In that, he hopes his children’s early exposure to varied communities during their stay overseas, gave them the understanding to living together with others respectfully.
