JAKARTA: Indonesia on Thursday was hit by a 6.7 aftershock off Sumatra island, triggering a local tsunami alert, a day after a huge quake in the same region, the meteorology office said.
The aftershock hit at 8:26 am (0126 GMT), about 130 kilometres (80 miles) southwest of the coastal city of Painan in West Sumatra, at a depth of 46 kilometres.
"There is a tsunami potential," a telephone text message from the office said.
