BEIJING: A man has died of bird flu in southern China, the second death in the country from the deadly disease in a month, state media reported Thursday.
The 41-year-old man, surnamed Liang, developed a headache and fever on February 12 and died early February 20.
Tests on him were positive for the H5N1 strain of the virus, Xinhua news agency said.
Chinese authorities on Tuesday reported a fresh bird flu outbreak among poultry further north in Tibet, a day after confirming a 22-year-old man in central China had died of the virus in late January. - AFP/ac
