BANGKOK - Myanmar's government has agreed to accept US emergency aid after last weekend's cyclone, allowing at least one military plane to deliver supplies to Yangon, an embassy spokesman said Thursday.

"They've given permission for a C-130 to go into Yangon," spokesman Michael Turner said, adding that details of the flight and the aid to be delivered were still being worked out.

"We're working on the who, where and when," he said.

The United States has urged Myanmar's military rulers to accept international disaster relief after the top US diplomat in Yangon warned that more than 100,000 people may have died when a cyclone pounded the country last weekend.

"It should be a simple matter. It's not a matter of politics. It's a matter of a humanitarian crisis," US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in Washington on Wednesday. - AFP/ir
