PESHAWAR - A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Pakistan court building on Thursday, killing 14 people and wounding 20 others in the northwestern city of Peshawar, officials said.

"It was a suicide blast. The attacker was on foot and was trying to enter the judicial complex. When the security personnel stopped him, he blew himself up," Sahib Zada Anis, head of the city's administration, told reporters.

"So far, 10 people have been killed and 12 injured. There are three policemen among the dead," he added.

At the main government-run Lady Reading Hospital, Doctor Zafar Iqbal later told AFP that the death toll had risen to 14.

"We have received 14 dead bodies and 20 injured," he said. - AFP/vm
