JAKARTA : Indonesia lifted its latest tsunami alert on Thursday along the west coast of Sumatra after a major aftershock of 6.8 rattled the area, the meteorological agency said.
"Tsunami warning cancelled," the agency said in a telephone text message after the quake hit 121 kilometres northwest of the city of Bengkulu, at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The alert was the fifth for the area since a massive 8.4-magnitude quake jolted the region at dusk on Wednesday, killing at least 10 people. - AFP/de
