SEOUL : South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak will pay a four-day summit visit to China late this month, the presidential Blue House said on Tuesday.
He will arrive in Beijing on May 27 and hold a summit with President Hu Jintao later that day. Talks will focus on bilateral ties and diplomatic efforts to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue, it said.
"Through his first visit to China, President Lee will help enhance the partnership between the two countries and pave the way for further development of bilateral ties," said spokesman Lee Dong-Kwan.
"The trip will provide the government with an opportunity to... strengthen bilateral, close cooperation for the settlement of the North Korean nuclear issue."
Lee, who took office on February 25, will also meet with Premier Wen Jiabao and other leaders.
On his way home he plans to visit the eastern city of Qingdao to inspect South Korea-invested companies operating there.
South Korea and China, along with Japan, Russia and the United States, have since 2003 been negotiating a nuclear disarmament deal with North Korea.
