NEW DELHI: A wall collapsed at a building site in the suburbs of New Delhi, killing at least 12 Indian construction workers and leaving more than 20 others injured, a report said on Sunday.

The accident took place late Saturday in the booming suburb of Gurgaon, south of the Indian capital, which has become a hub for new condos and office buildings.

Gurgaon city official Rakesh Gupta warned the death toll could rise, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

The wall that collapsed was about 20 feet (six metres) tall, Gupta told PTI, blaming shoddy construction materials for the incident.
