SINGAPORE: Singapore and the United States have welcomed the commitment by Cambodia and Thailand to finding a peaceful resolution to the Preah Vihear Temple issue.

A Singapore Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman made this point in a statement issued after Foreign Minister George Yeo and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Ministerial Meeting Wednesday morning.

During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the strong relationship between Singapore and the United States.

They also discussed a range of issues, including recent developments in Asia and ASEAN, and reaffirmed the importance of good ASEAN-US cooperation.

Secretary Rice is in Singapore to attend the ASEAN Regional Forum and the 10-member grouping's meeting with dialogue partners.
