PARIS: Flagship carrier Garuda Indonesia signed a contract with European plane maker Airbus for 25 A320 jets including 10 A320neos after agreeing a deal in June, Airbus said on Tuesday.
At list prices the order is worth an estimated US$2.18 billion (1.53 million euros).
The jets will replace the Boeing 737 aircraft flown by Garuda's low-cost unit, Citilink.
The A320neo is claimed to be 15 per cent more fuel efficient than the classic model, with new high-tech engines making the difference.
The two companies announced on June 21 that they had signed a memorandum of understanding on the sale.
