SINGAPORE : Singapore shares ended 1.07 per cent higher on Monday, mirroring gains in other Asian bourses, following the better-than-expected US jobs numbers which suggested that the American economy was not as weak as feared.
The blue chip Straits Times Index (STI) gained 32.02 points to close at 3,034.58, on a volume of 1.93 billion shares worth S$1.48 billion. Gainers led losers 364 to 130, while 670 counters remained unchanged.
Flag carrier Singapore Airlines rose 2.56 per cent to S$16 and Singapore Telecom was 0.32 per cent higher at S$3.11. - AFP/CNA/ls
