LONDON - Premier League champions Manchester United signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with Telekom Malaysia on Thursday.

The deal makes Telekom Malaysia United's preferred telecoms partner in the Asian country.

United already have a significant fan base across Asia and hope to continue to increase awareness of the club in the region through deals like these.

"Anyone who went on our tour of the Far East last year knows the strength of feeling that Malaysians have for the club," United chief executive David Gill said.

"Over 40,000 attended our training session and another 40,000 came to the second match in Kuala Lumpur, despite only having 48 hours' notice of the fixture."
