PALM BEACH GARDENS, United States : Mark Wilson, seeking his first US PGA Tour title, seized the lead in the US$5.5 million Honda Classic Saturday as overnight leaders Charlie Wi and Robert Allenby struggled.

Wilson carded his second straight 66 for a six-under total of 204.

His round included an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys.

Boo Weekley, who gained his PGA card this year after playing on the Nationwide Tour from 2003-06, also put himself in contention to capture his first tour title. He, took, signed for a 66 to lie one shot behind Wilson.

Sweden's Daniel Chopra fired a 68 to lie two shots adrift.

Wi and Allenby, who started the day tied for the lead, struggled to stay in touch.

Wi shot a two-over 72 for 207, tied with Steve Stricker (70), while Allenby carded a 73 for 208.

Irishman Padraig Harrington, the 2005 winner of this event, was in a group of six players tied for seventh at one-under.

Defending champion Luke Donald of Britain, who rallied Friday to barely make the cut, reverted to his woeful first-round form with a 72 for 216 - tied for 61st. - AFP/ch
