CHARLOTTE, North Carolina: Tim Duncan scored 17 points and Tony Parker added 13 to spark the San Antonio Spurs past Charlotte 86-84 on Monday in a National Basketball Association game.

The Southwest division-leading Spurs improved to 27-13 by defeating the Bobcats for the eighth time in nine meetings with the NBA's newest club.

Duncan added 11 rebounds and six assists while French guard Parker added 10 assists for the Spurs.

Charlotte's Raja Bell scored a season-high 25 points.

The Bobcats had a chance to level or win the game in the dying seconds but Raymond Felton had his shot blocked by Duncan as he drove down the lane.

Charlotte's Boris Diaw grabbed the loose ball and the French forward launched an unchallenged 3-pointer for the win that was short at the final buzzer.

Diaw finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Bobcats, who fell to 16-25. - AFP/de
