SILVIS, Illinois: Americans Lee Janzen and Darron Stiles both shot seven-under par 64 to share the lead after the opening round of the PGA John Deere Classic.

Two-time US Open champ Janzen is seeking his ninth career title and first since winning the 1998 US Open.

The 44-year-old Janzen posted his lowest round since firing a 64 four years ago at the Honda Classic.

Stiles birdied the 18th hole in the first round of the final PGA Tour tune-up before next week's British Open.

He and Janzen hold a one-shot lead over J.J. Henry, Matt Bettencourt and Dean Wilson.

Dicky Pride, Jason Day, Tim Petrovic and Matthew Borchert are two strokes back at five-under 66.
