SANTIAGO: The Inter-American Development Bank will make up to US$460 million available to Chile to help finance the quake-stricken country's reconstruction needs, the bank's head said Thursday.

"The IDB is at the disposal of the government of President Sebastian Pinera to help Chile overcome the catastrophe in all areas in which we can help," said IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno in a statement here as he attended Pinera's inauguration.

IDB's Chile representative Jaime Sujoy said around US$260 million in undisbursed resources from IDB loans are currently in execution, and up to US$200 million more in loans could be approved.

A technical mission from the bank is to visit Chile on March 22 to assess the country's needs in the wake of a massive 8.8-magnitude quake that also sparked a deadly tsunami.
