Moderate earthquake hits Mexico's Pacific Coast

MEXICO CITY - A moderate 5.2 earthquake hit early Saturday in southwestern Mexico, where federal authorities reported no casualties or damage.

The epicentre of the tremor, which occurred Saturday at 7:24 am (1324 GMT), was in the Pacific Coast town of Zihuatanejo, in the state of Guerrero, according to the National Seismological Service.

A public security ministry official told AFP there were no reports of injuries or victims.

Mexico's southwestern coast is prone to earthquakes.
