MOSCOW: A Boeing 737 with 69 passengers aboard made an emergency landing at Moscow's Vnukovo airport on Saturday, returning safely just after take-off without causing any injuries, news agencies reported.

"The plane made an emergency landing. Nobody among the 69 people aboard was injured," a spokesman for Vnukovo airport told the Interfax news agency.

The plane, on Sky Express flight 229 from Moscow to the southern town of Sochi, experienced vibrations in its left engine and returned to Vnukovo shortly after taking off, an airline spokesman told RIA Novosti.

"The crew made the decision to return to Moscow for an inspection of the airplane," Sky Express spokesman Vitaly Korenyugin was quoted as saying, adding that there were six crew members on the plane as well as 69 passengers.

Sky Express is a low-cost Russian airline serving domestic destinations.

Fire engines and paramedics had gathered at the airport ahead of the emergency landing, Interfax said.

An earlier Interfax report had incorrectly given the plane's flight number as 137 and said it was flying from Sochi to Moscow instead of the other way round.
