NEW YORK: The US dollar was mixed against other major currencies in choppy trade on Wednesday, as investors once again worried about the economic outlook.

The euro reached 1.2998 dollars in New York at 0000 GMT up slightly from 1.2997 dollars late Tuesday.

The dollar fell against the Japanese currency, hitting 87.40 yen from 87.78 yen Tuesday.

"Data releases once again cast a shadow over the US growth outlook," said Brian Kim of UBS.

The dollar also fell against the Swiss franc, trading at 1.0566 francs, down from 1.0605 on Tuesday while the British pound rose to 1.5620 dollars from 1.5590 dollars.

"Risk appetite retreated," said Kathy Lien of Global Forex Trading.

"However it is still too early to declare the rally in the euro and pound over particularly since these two currencies did not fall aggressively and only consolidated near their recent highs."
