I like most of the documentary screened so far. Eagerly anticipating them. I think it is a good idea to screen it on a weekend. A student like me won’t have time to catch it one a weekday. And it is such a therapy to catch it on a weekend after a stressful week. I love the Part one Karakatoa. The visual animation and impact was so beautifully done. I also love the way they recreated the 19th century of that region to such detail. It gave me a chance to experience a world I was not born in.//
However, I would like to see more freshly and locally made documentary. I don’t want to see much documentaries that are shown elsewhere already. It should be balanced with documentaries specially made for this channel. It would be best if they are locally made-so that we Singaporean can be proud of. Organized a competition for that? Maybe one of the documentaries can be capitalized on the Peranakan Chinese community in Singapore and Malacca and Penang. What is their true origin? Maybe can work with the Biopolis or some kind of genome institute to uncover that at a genetic level. Maybe we can also check how many pure-blooded left. It seems there are very few left: Most of them tend to marry outside their community in Singapore. Maybe we can showcase their culture and heritage of different era? What is their future like? Are they and their beautiful culture going to disappeared? Has anything big been done to protect their culture? Why is not Katong enlisted as a World Heritage Site: It has the reason to be! There are many things about the Pernanakan Chinese that few know. It would be a good idea to showcase it comprehensively. Hope someone is listening and my wish guaranteed. //
