JAPAN: Chinese President Hu Jintao has left Tokyo on his fourth day in Japan to travel to Yokohama and Osaka. It's his longest state visit to one country since he became president in 2003.
Over breakfast, Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Japanese lawmakers who gave their full support for the Beijing Olympic Games.
President Hu said: "Chinese society and people pledged to fulfil the promise to international community. So, we will make our best effort to make the Olympics a success in order to unite the international community into a big family."
Before President Hu left Tokyo, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko visited him at his hotel. While the meeting was warm, there were some outside shouting words of protests.
Shuhei Nishimura, organizer of the rally, said: "Hu making demands to our country's emperor (and) come out to a local hotel is a total insult to the Emperor."
But in fact it's not uncommon for the imperial couple to make their way to bid farewell to a visiting head of state.
Later on Mr Hu visited a recycling plant in Kawasaki and travelled to Yokohama which hosts a huge Chinese community, before flying to Japan's second largest city of Osaka.
China's trade with the Kansai area which includes Osaka, Kyoto and Nara is said to have boomed over the past decade. It was worth 2.6 trillion yen. But now it has doubled to seven trillion yen.
Japan's big companies such as Nintendo, Sharp and Matsushita are based in the region.
