He's a mess while she's what you might call, anal retentive. Two lawyers with two very different personalities have to unite for a common goal and that is, of all things, to get married and take care of other people's children.
That's the plot of a new TV series "Parental Guidance" which hits screens in Singapore on 8 February.
The comedy series starring Singapore's funny-man Adrian Pang and top Hong Kong actress Jessica Hsuan explores family and relationships.
In the show, Jessica plays “Ling,” a lawyer who finds her life changed when she is thrown into her new role as an instant wife and mom.
Jessica revealed that she was a little nervous when she took on the role as it was her first English drama.
But she soon eased into the character and really enjoyed working with Adrian and her little co-stars, "I like working with them because children are always very genuine, all their reactions is on their faces. Sometimes they are out of control but once you get along with them, you know them well, then it’s fun."
Filming only took one and a half months which was a “holiday” for Jessica as the pace was considered slow and the hours short compared to Hong Kong.
"In Hong Kong, we can work up to 22 hours a day... and here it’s like 10, so you get plenty of time to rest. Life is more regular here," said Jessica.
Though the actress has been in the entertainment industry for 14 years, she has never played an evil character.
But that will have to wait because Jessica is now working on a Cantonese drama serial, in which she plays – you guessed it – a goody-two-shoes.
The drama production, a collaboration between Hong Kong’s TVB and China’s CCTV, is based on the handover of Hong Kong. - CNA
Parental Guidance airs every Thursday at 8.30pm on MediaCorp's Channel 5.
