OTTAWA: She may be ‘Promiscuous’ and a 'Maneater', in her latest album but singer Nelly Furtado is for sure, married.
The 29-year old has confessed that she tied the knot over summer to the sound engineer Demacio Castellon on her latest album.
The pair apparently had been engaged since last year and got hitched on July 19 after working together on her album ‘Loose’.
“I just feel kind of free and relaxed and more in tune with trying not to be so stressed out,” the Grammy-award winner shares. “I’m happy… I’m excited about the future.”
Furtado shot to fame in 2000 with her debut album ‘Whoa, Nelly!’ which included the hit single ‘I’m Like A Bird’.
Furtado grew up in the westernmost Canadian city of Victoria, the daughter of immigrant parents from Portugal's mid-Atlantic Azores islands.
She has a four-year-old daughter, Nevis, from a previous relationship with DJ and producer Jasper (Lil’ Jaz) Gahunia. The couple split in 2005.
After becoming a mother, she released the less commercially successful Folklore (2003). She returned to prominence in 2006 with the release of 'Loose' and its hit singles "Promiscuous", "Maneater" and "Say It Right".
