NEW YORK : Another screen star is thinking of making his foray into the political scene.

American actor Val Kilmer who is presently shooting for a film in Bulgaria, hinted about his plans during a telephone interview for a newspaper.

The “Batman Forever” star wants to run for office in New Mexico where he owns a huge ranch.

"There's sort of a rumour around that I'm maybe thinking about running to be governor of New Mexico? Well, it's sort of true. It's been my home 25 years. I really love my state. Poor, hardworking, decent people - Native Americans, carpenters, artists, expats mixed in with hundreds of the world's smartest physicists at Los Alamos. I've always thought of myself as functioning as a candidate for them," the New York Post quoted him as saying.

In preparation, the 48-year-old star is turning to Hollywood friend Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is now the Governor of California, for some political advice.

“I plan to sit down with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I’m approaching this as a serious endeavour. But being famous as an actor is one thing - they take no prisoners in politics.”
