SINGAPORE : Singapore singer Mavis Hee was called 'crazy' after news of her harrassing a guest at the Ritz-Carlton hotel splashed across the media three years ago. The 34-year-old never explained what had got her fuming and yelling that infamous phrase 'Call me God'.

In a recent interview, renowned music producer Xu Chang De who had clarified the matter with Hee's manager, spoke out about the incident, adding that he believes that the singer never suffered from any mental problems.

According to Xu, Hee was waiting for a friend at the hotel lobby when a foreigner approached her thinking she was a prostitute. Hee, a devout Christian, was disgusted with the man's remarks and began to raise her voice and shouted, 'Call me God!'.

The police were called, and Hee was taken to the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and warded for psychiatric observation.

Xu said that Hee was at the lowest point in her life after rumours about her failed relationship with married Singapore music producer Chen Jia Ming surfaced. There were also reports that she was pregnant and planned to leave the music industry.

He believed that Hee's personality and religious beliefs were the main reasons behind her behaviour that day. Describing her as a kind-hearted person who tends to be oversensitive and wary of people around her, he said, "Be it a girl or a guy, she never allow anyone to touch her. If you move forward, she will immediately take a step backwards."
