LOS ANGELES : A trailer for the upcoming movie about Michael Jackson's final days was officially released here Wednesday, showing tantalising glimpses of the singer preparing for his doomed comeback.

Sony Pictures Entertainment released the two-and-a-half minute video on the film's official
website, roughly six weeks before the film makes its debut in theatres.

"On October 28th, the legend, the music, the event of a lifetime," credits on the trailer promised, in between clips of Jackson rehearsing for the series of concerts that were cancelled following his June 25 death.

The movie - titled "This Is It" - will open in most countries around the world on October 28 for a limited two-week run.

The film is being culled from more than 100 hours of rehearsal footage shot between April and June in Los Angeles, where Jackson prepared for his comeback before dying suddenly on June 25 at age 50.

The film will feature 3-D sequences and will also include a retrospective of his career and interviews with friends and collaborators. Proceeds from the film will go to the Michael Jackson Family Trust.

The movie has borrowed the title which would have been used for Jackson's comeback and is being directed by Kenny Ortega, best known for directing Disney's successful "High School Musical 3: Senior Year."

"This film is Michael's gift to his fans," Ortega said last month. "It's a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius's world."
