HONG KONG: Is Vicky Zhao going to tie the knot? According to Hong Kong reports, the answer is a resounding YES – the Chinese actress is engaged to a multi-millionaire businessman from China.
The 33-year-old actress, who has been in the spotlight in recent months about her wedding plans, was reported to be engaged to a Chinese businessman, only known by his surname Huang, and is a well-known figure in the property industry.
Their relationship hit headlines after workers from Huang's company spilled the beans. According to the employees, Zhao has been making frequent appearances during the company's dinner functions as Huang's partner. Some witnesses pointed out Zhao tends to appear demure and shy in the presence of Huang.
The Hong Kong media described Huang as an average looker, standing around 170 centimetres tall. Apart from his property dealings, he also owns a construction-material factory and is reportedly worth hundred of millions.
Zhao deliberately kept a low profile when she turned up at the Tokyo International Film Festival on Saturday and was not spotted with an engagement ring even though she was decked with a set of diamond necklace and bracelet.
Reporters' attempts to contact both Zhao and her manager were futile as both their mobile phones were switched off.
Last month, Chao was rumoured to be tying the knot with a Singaporean businessman, known as Marco, and was planning to register their marriage in Singapore. Her manager later denied the reports and commented that she did not know who Marco was.
Chao remained tight-lipped over the matter and she only recently disclosed that she has already made up her mind in regard to her choice of partner.
In the meantime, her previous rumoured relationship with Chinese table tennis player and Olympic gold medalist Wang Liqin has become a talking point. The pair, who has always maintained that they are only friends, was spotted by security guards holding hands and walking in and out of a Shanghai apartment.
