HANGZHOU: As her big day approaches, Malaysian singer Fish Leong has laid down several guidelines for her upcoming wedding to businessman, Tony Zhao, next year.
At the top of the list: No one is allowed to force the groom to down alcohol.
Leong cited recent reports of bridegrooms dying as a result of excessive alcoholism for her decision.
"Excessive alcoholism is too dangerous," she said.
Could that be a veiled attempt for the couple to try for a baby?
The singer laughed at the remark and said that they would like to enjoy their couple time for a year before making plans to have a baby.
Unlike most couples, Leong said they have opted not to do a bridal shoot as the whole procedure is too complicated. Furthermore, the bride often ends up feeling irritable and looking stiff in photos.
"Our photos will be shot during the wedding itself. That is the latest trend!" Leong said proudly.
And not wanting her wedding to be a "fashion show", the bride-to-be said she has decided to limit the number of gowns to just two, one specially-designed bridal gown and an evening gown.
The couple plan to hold three weddings, with the first in late January at an undisclosed equatorial island. For privacy reasons, Leong has refused to disclose the location which is likely to be Boracay in the Philippines or Ko Samui in Thailand.
Thereafter, they will hold a celebration in Malaysia in February for Leong's relatives and another in Taipei where big names in the Chinese entertainment industry such as singers Wang Leehom, Tanya Chua and host Jacky Wu will attend.
The total cost for the three weddings is likely to amount to 5 million Taiwan dollars (S$250,000). - CNA/fa
