PARIS - Carla Bruni, the supermodel wife of President Nicolas Sarkozy, and US crooner Harry Connick Junior reunite Monday on French television for a duet of the Beatles' song "And I Love Her."
Connick told AFP that the pair will reprise the sultry bossa-nova cover they recently recorded in Paris as a bonus for the European version of the American singer's newly-released album.
"She was really impressive," Connick said of his last encounter with Bruni, with whom he was due to appear on a Monday evening show on Canal Plus pay television.
"I didn't know that much about her and I told my wife and she goes: 'Oh I know Carla', because they used to work together years ago and she says she's a great singer, songwriter," he said.
"She knows what she wants to do and immediately we liked each other so that made it nice. We talked about kids and stuff, she was great, I loved it."
He said he had only a fleeting encounter with Sarkozy, the twice-divorced president who married Bruni in 2008 after a whirlwind romance.
"I met him very briefly, he said hello and sort of left us to our work," Connick said. - AFP/ar
