SINGAPORE: Former MediaCorp host Sharon Au has revealed that she intends to tie the knot with her French boyfriend who is eight years her junior, but said it would not be held this year.

According to a report on The New Paper, the nuptials will be a very private affair held in Tokyo, where 34-year-old Au is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree at Waseda University on a MediaCorp scholarship.

The pair met while Au was in Lyon, France, in 2008, for a one-year exchange programme to study French and Law as part of her degree studies.

"He is the one. My mum loves him too," she said.

Au had gushed about how happy and content she was in her relationship in her blog entries. However, she was tight-lipped about her beau and refused to divulge any details about him, including his name, although photos of the happy couple appeared frequently in her blog.

"We belong to the same self-deprecating family. We are both crazy in the same goofy way. The way we lip-sync to a favourite song, dance like idiots when we are in high spirits and chuckle at the most inappropriate moments," Au wrote in a blog entry in January last year. "This is chemistry."

Au was named Best Variety Show Host consecutively from 2000 to 2004 at the annual Star Awards but left MediaCorp at the height of her career in 2005 to further her studies.
