TAIPEI : Taiwan television host Dee Hsu and husband Mike Xu said Sunday that recent reports about him hitting her were completely untrue and promised to take legal action against the originator of the reports, said Taiwan media reports.
A news report in entertainment rag Apple Daily Taiwan on Sunday claimed that Hsu, 31, had been physically assaulted by her husband when they had a marital spat last month.
The publication also claimed that Hsu had called up a domestic violence centre hotline which then transferred her case to the police.
"My husband is the gentlest, most caring person I have ever seen in my life. We feel it's not enough to spend this lifetime together, so we won't waste time hurting each other. We are really fine, he would never hit me," said Hsu. "My husband can't wait to hug me, why would he hit me?"
Hsu said the false report had harmed both her and her husband so she intends to take legal action against the originator of the reports.
"We don't even know where these reports come from... No source is given at all. I feel it might be just something cooked up by the writer," said Xu.
Both the centre and the police had earlier issued statements denying ever having received her call.
Hsu had continuously insisted she was happily married. Only recently, she defended her husband who was photographed at a lounge with his arm around the waist of a woman in December last year. She had said that she trusted him as he would always tell her where he is going and who he will be with before having a night on the town.
Hsu and Xu were married in 2005 and have two daughters. The couple is currently trying for a son.
